Rory's Recommendation - Ten years ago Foch was the most planted grape in Minnesota, but due to the release of new hardy grape cultivars from the University of Minnesota this less hardy hybrid is losing acreage. Foch is still a nice grape that can make a very good wine, and has stood the test of time. Due to its hardiness Foch isn't recommended for those in the northern two thirds of MN or those on an exposed site. If you are in zone 4a or colder, consider planting the UMN varieties first, as Foch is not fully hardy in severe MN winters.
