| Also known by the synonym name ES 3-24-7, Prairie Star was developed by Elmer Swenson and released in 2001. Hardy to -30° F, Prairie Star is fairly disease resistant, but it is susceptible to Anthracnose which is easily controllable. Reported as capable of making a neutral varietal wine in most years it is currently used to balance other white wines. |

| Rory's Recommendation - Prairie Star is a fairly disease resistant and upward growing variety. It has low vigor and spotty cluster set. The fruit is capable of reaching 20-22° brix with fairly low acidity for a white variety. Wine from Prairie Star is usually neutral, it is best used as a blender to add body and decrease acid in wine making. I don't recommend planting it in large numbers until you see how it does on your site. | ||||||||||||
